PowerPac Economic Zone

The Economic Zone Act was passed in the Bangladesh Parliament in August 2010, providing the overall framework for establishing EZs throughout Bangladesh. Under this Act, the Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) is established under the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and governed by a Board chaired by the Prime Minister.
The law provides the legal coverage for attracting and leveraging private investment in the development of zones as zone developers or operators, and in the provision of tailored infrastructure services, such as private provision of power, effluent treatment, etc. selected and contracted on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis.
PowerPac Economic Zone at Mongla, Khulna Division in Southwest Bangladesh is the first Economic Zone under PPP model. The site for the PowerPac economic zone has been identified as a land parcel of 205 acres that lies 40 km from Khulna city, 105 km from Jessore airport and 230 km from capital Dhaka.
BEZA and PowerPac have finalized The Agreement for appointment of Developer of Mongla Economic Zone (PPP model) on February 26.
